I spent Easter Monday finishing off my sketch of Willie Wagtails. They are very intense fast little birds, and their tails flit rapidly from side to side. This particular sketchbook doesn't take to watercolour, so I used my Elegant Writer pen and some gouache.
I was so excited to have received my new pens yesterday and knew that this Black Cockatoo would be a great subject to practice on. The special new pen is the "Elegant Writer" which is a calligraphy pen that dissolves with brush and water creating beautiful unpredictable effects. Spending a relaxing long weekend at Burrill Lake only 10 minutes from home painting sparrows on the fence. Used Saunders Waterford CP and really like it with my mixed media of watercolour with some ink, gouache and conte crayon. 10.5" x 7.5"
