Even though I love sunshine and the great outdoors, there’s something special about a rainy day, a warm studio, hot cup of tea and some classical music in the background. Just outside my studio door some bright red geraniums were beckoning to be painted.
It’s always exciting when enthusiasm builds up, and a large part of it was painting with the colour red. I had no patience for a drawing, so I laid in patches of colour using only red and green. When the first layer dried, I needed to add some warmth, so a patchy glaze of yellow did the trick.
The painting was semi-completed with watercolour, and finished off with pastels.
So pretty

I like the texture created by the combination of media.

Thank you, Martina! I was happy too! I have been trying to achieve results with pure watercolour, but then why not use mixed media!? It works and it’s fun! 🙂
