I was happy with my previous Galahs but felt the background was way too busy, so I just had to start again and as a result am happier with this one!
Backgrounds are quite a challenge for me, but then I could make it easier for myself and eliminate the background altogether and there’s a big chance it will look better anyway! But, I like the challenge of the story, so I’ll keep persisting.
In this painting, I used a blue, a yellow and a red (with a dash of white gouache here and there). Most of it was painted with greys derived from mixing all three into a black.
Arches 300gsm hot-pressed 27cm x 37cm approx 11″x15″
I LOVE everything about this painting! The colours are so well-chosen and seem to me to work together in perfect harmony, and yet the stunning birds still stand out as the main focus, and their attitude is simply wonderful! Amazing!

Thank you, Liz! From our verandah we view right inside the canopy of our huge Golden Rain tree and witness many birds feeding their young. Feeling very lucky! π

Your paintings are so beautiful. You captured exactly what a momma feeding her baby looks like. At least at my house.
