Song of the Tui Bird

Finally up close and personal with Tui birds! What fascinating birds they are!

On this “very special” day for us, Laurie took us to an equally special place,  just passed Onerahi on the Whangarei Harbour to the Blue Heron Holiday Park. We had the most picturesque setting on the water with red flame trees all around us filled with Tui birds. It was as if they dressed for the occasion in their black suits with their white pom-pom style bow ties.

Their song is amazing, providing a range of sounds, a bit like a symphonic composure with all the bells and whistles included.
